Trauma Therapy

Trauma can shape the way we think, feel, connect, and move through the world. Sometimes its effects are immediate. Other times, they show up quietly over time—in our emotions, relationships, or even in the way our bodies respond to stress.

Trauma isn’t defined by the event itself, but by how deeply it impacts the individual. For children, teens, and adults, trauma may show up as:

  • Anxiety, fear, or feeling constantly on edge

  • Difficulty sleeping, focusing, or feeling present

  • Emotional numbness, irritability, or overwhelming emotions

  • Avoiding certain people, places, memories, or situations

  • Difficulty trusting others or feeling safe in relationships

These responses are not signs of weakness—they are the mind and body’s natural way of trying to stay safe.

At My Precious Counseling, we use an integrative, trauma-informed approach that honors each client’s story, pace, and unique path toward healing. Therapy isn’t about “fixing” what’s broken—it’s about creating safety, building emotional regulation, and helping clients reconnect with themselves and others.

Using evidence-based approaches such as TF-CBT, DBT-informed skills, play therapy, and attachment-focused techniques, we help children, teens, and adults process difficult experiences, rebuild trust, and move forward with greater confidence and resilience.

You don’t have to carry trauma alone. Healing is possible—and support is here.
