Adolescent Anxiety and Depression Therapy

Supporting young minds through big emotions.

Even when children can’t find the words, their feelings are still speaking.

Children and teens don’t always have the language to explain what they’re feeling—but their emotions often show up through behavior, body language, or changes in mood. Anxiety and depression can look different in young people, sometimes appearing as withdrawal, irritability, perfectionism, difficulty concentrating, sleep changes, physical complaints, or a loss of interest in things they once enjoyed.

At My Precious Counseling, we help children and adolescents better understand their emotions, build healthy coping skills, and feel safe expressing what’s happening beneath the surface. Through compassionate, individualized therapy, we create space for healing, confidence, and emotional growth.

Signs of Anxiety or Depression in Children & Teens

  • Frequent worry, fear, or panic

  • Changes in sleep, appetite, or energy levels

  • Irritability, emotional outbursts, or mood swings

  • Avoiding school, social situations, or activities they once enjoyed

  • Low self-esteem, self-criticism, or feelings of worthlessness

  • Difficulty focusing, staying organized, or completing tasks

  • Physical complaints such as headaches, stomachaches, or unexplained body tension

These struggles are not “just a phase.” They’re often signs that a child or teen is feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally stuck—and with the right support, healing and growth are possible.

Our Therapeutic Approach

Every child and teen experiences anxiety and depression differently, which is why I use an integrative, developmentally appropriate approach tailored to each client’s unique needs, personality, and stage of growth.

Therapy may include:

  • Play-based interventions to help younger children express and process emotions in ways that feel natural and safe

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to identify unhelpful thought patterns and build healthy coping strategies

  • DBT-informed skills to strengthen emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness

  • Parent collaboration and support to create consistency, connection, and emotional safety at home

  • Psychoeducation to help children and teens better understand their emotions and feel less alone in what they’re experiencing

Above all, my goal is to create a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space where young people feel seen, heard, and empowered to grow through life’s challenges.
